A LITTLE BIT ABOUT lynna

After growing up in Long Island and living in Brooklyn for ten years, I moved to Colorado for easier access to nature and outdoor activities. I fell in love with hiking after a backpacking trip in Indonesia in 2014 and later took up climbing. My love of art began at a young age and creativity is now an integral part of my life whether it’s through cooking or baking something new, painting, or putting together an elaborate Halloween costume. Prior to pursuing a career as a therapist, I enjoyed working in product development and innovation for various food-related companies.

Why I am pursuing a career as a Marriage and Family Therapist

Growing up in a multicultural family that rarely discussed emotions and navigating life with an alcoholic parent led to my first experience with therapy. My therapist helped me process the grief and sadness I was holding and move forward with agency and acceptance. Years later, I became interested in working with relationships and sexuality because of my own joys and challenges in those areas. Exploring different relationship structures expanded my perspective and made me curious about the diversity and complexities in all types of relationships. Therapy and personal development work during this period of my life gave me the awareness and tools to understand my patterns, communicate my needs, and have the courage to make authentic choices. Committing to growth and introspection has allowed me to cultivate deeper and more fulfilling relationships with friends, partners, family, and myself. I am honored to provide a space for others to be their authentic selves and create the changes they are seeking.

I respect the unique and nuanced identities of all individuals and relationships. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, non-monogamy affirming, and kink-affirming.

To be loving, we willingly hear the other’s truth, and most important, we affirm the value of truth telling.
