A little bit about Bonnie…

Born and raised in Southwest Virginia, I spent the first part of my life nestled amongst the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Upon graduating from college, I moved to Washington, DC to pursue my career as a relationship counselor. Following my love for the mountains and appreciation of the outdoors, I relocated to Colorado a few years later and quickly made Denver my home. I have enjoyed it here ever since!

When I’m not working, I am active outside or tapping in to my creative interests. I love combining my passion for photography with a great hike or a fun day on the slopes. When I have time, I enjoy painting and diving into DIY projects too. I can often be found listening to a variety of music and appreciate opportunities to discover new, local bands. Of course Red Rocks is officially my favorite venue. By nature I have an upbeat personality, a big smile, and love to laugh. When life gets hard, which it does at times for all of us, I utilize mindfulness practices and positivity to get me through the day.

Why I became a therapist…

I have known I would be in the mental health field for most of my life.  However, a significant event that occurred while I was entering adulthood profoundly influenced my desire to be a therapist.  At the age of 17, my family experienced a traumatic house fire where we lost our home, sentimental family possessions, and our beloved pets.  I experienced fear and loneliness at a whole new level, and even lost my sense of self.  Grieving my painful losses and redefining myself was a long, difficult journey. I felt desolate and vulnerable.  Through this process, I realized the importance of healing and the challenges of discovering resilience in the toughest of times.  Through the support of others, I found a way to move forward and become a stronger individual. I learned it is possible to heal, grow and actually thrive in the face of negative life events.  This experience reinforced my desire to help others heal past wounds or overcome current challenges in order to move forward in a positive and fulfilling way.  It is my passion to provide a safe place for individuals, couples or families to explore their lives and rediscover happiness.
